About Us

Rich Weil

I created the earliest version of Transformation Weight Control in 2002 at the world-renowned New York Obesity Research Center at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City. The original program was known as the New York Obesity Research Center Weight Loss Program. It was designed as a “lifestyle-change” medically supervised weight loss program offering weekly closed groups led by health professionals teaching nutrition, exercise, behavior modification, and motivation strategies. I created closed groups for optimal social support, where you’re with the same staff and group members for the entire session, and a robust follow-up program where you were able to continue treatment for as long as you wanted — to lose more weight or prevent regain of the weight you lost.

My staff and I consider overweight and obesity chronic diseases and addictions to food, all of which require chronic treatment; that’s why we offer a follow-up program called “Rainbow”. And just so you know, we don’t think excess weight or troubkle losing weight or preventing regain is your fault. It’s not a lack of willpower, self-discipline, or a character flaw. You’re up against genetics, hormonal and metabolic changes, appetite dysregulation, biology of the brain working against you, and so much more. No one would intentionally choose to have trouble with their weight. You didn’t either.

When the COVID pandemic hit in 2020, the program moved online, and then in 2022, Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital closed the weight loss program. Committed to my work, and without missing a beat, I continued online to this day, presenting the exact same program, and more.
